Cops destroy over $22.8M in ganja at Canje Creek

(Kaieteur News) – Ranks from the Guyana Police Force Narcotics Branch and Regional Police Division #6 on Tuesday destroyed over $22.8M in ganja during an eradication exercise at Long Savannah, Canje Creek, Berbice River.

During the exercise, ranks discovered three cannabis farms covering approximately 10½ acres, with an estimated 53,500 cannabis plants ranging from four inches to six feet in height. At the first farm, which measured approximately six acres, ranks found about 30,000 cannabis plants, a makeshift camp, a drying area and approximately 20 pounds of dried cannabis, police said in a release.

The second farm measured approximately four acres and contained about 20,000 cannabis plants. Two makeshift camps and a nursery containing approximately 9,600 cannabis seedlings in 75 trays were also discovered. The third farm measured approximately half an acre and contained an estimated 3,500 cannabis plants.
