Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has threatened to cut funding to local government regional corporations if workers who are “lazy” do not clean up their act.
Speaking at the United National Congress (UNC) Monday Night Report at Camden Hall, Couva, Persad-Bissessar said Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen must “crack the whip” and deal with people who fail to work their full hours but still collect full pay.
She called on mayors to fire people and send them home if they refused to work.
