PUBLIC Utilities Minister Barry Padarath says the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has begun flushing affected lines following reports of discoloured water in several parts of Trinidad, insisting that the water remains safe for domestic use.
The issue was raised in Parliament yesterday by Opposition MP Marvin Gonzales, a former public utilities minister, who asked whether urgent measures were being undertaken by WASA to address discoloured water affecting customers in parts of Diego Martin, Port of Spain, Central and South Trinidad.
Padarath said he was surprised the question was coming from a former public utilities minister, noting that water discolouration following disruptions to the distribution system was not a new occurrence.
