OPPOSITION MP for Arouca/Lopinot and former public utilities minister Marvin Gonzales is calling for a criminal investigation into the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), alleging that illegal water-trucking operations are costing the State millions of dollars while communities continue to struggle with unreliable water supplies.
He made the call on Saturday during the 2026/2027 budget debate.
Gonzales questioned an increase in the allocation for water-trucking services, reductions in WASA’s funding and reports that hundreds of workers employed by the authority could soon lose their jobs.
