Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela have formally declared the beginning of a “new era” in their relationship, putting recent tensions behind and establishing an ambitious roadmap spanning energy, trade, agriculture and security.
This will be driven from the highest levels of both governments, under the leadership of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and interim Venezuelan President Delcy RodrĂguez.
According to a joint statement issued following the talks in Caracas yesterday, both governments said Sobers’ visit “marks a new chapter in diplomatic relations between the neighbouring countries”.
