Two major intelligence-led operations were executed by units in the Southern and South-Western Divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday. The exercises targeted priority offenders, illegal firearms, ammunition, and narcotics and were conducted in line with TTPS policies and the Emergency Powers Regulations 2025.
Around 4:05 pm on Tuesday, officers of the St. Madeleine Police Station, St. Madeleine CID, the San Fernando Operations and Enquiries Unit, and the Southern Division Road Enforcement Task Force carried out an operation at Balisier Avenue, Pleasantville, in the Mon Repos Police District. The exercise was coordinated by Sgt Harripersad and supervised in the field by Sgt Seecharan.
During the operation, officers attempted to arrest a 23-year-old man identified as a Priority Offender and a suspect in attempted murder, wounding, and firearm-related offences. The suspect attempted to run while pointing an object resembling a firearm at officers. Officers discharged their service weapons in line with the TTPS Use of Force Policy. The suspect sustained one gunshot wound, was detained, taken for medical attention, treated, and discharged. Officers recovered one Smith and Wesson pistol, a magazine, and nine rounds of 9mm ammunition.
