Legislation to curb excessive noise will be a priority when Parliament resumes in September, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced.
Speaking at the United National Congress (UNC) Monday Night Report at Penal Secondary School, Persad-Bissessar said the new measures will specifically address the use of music trucks and fireworks, which she described as a growing public nuisance.
“There will be legislation for a mandatory cutoff time for all public events requiring dancehall licences that are not held within an enclosed building,” she said. “And legislation regarding the use of music trucks and a cutoff time for music trucks.”
