The Mighty Sparrow’s name will stand over one of Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest cultural stages.
In a historic tribute to the late calypso icon, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday announced that the Grand Stand at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain will be refurbished and renamed in honour of Dr Slinger Francisco, The Mighty Sparrow.
The announcement came during an emotional farewell to the legendary entertainer at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in the capital city, where Persad-Bissessar paid tribute to the man whose music shaped generations and carried the spirit of the Caribbean around the world.
