THE death of Slinger Francisco-The Mighty Sparrow-brought tributes from political leaders, cultural organisations, entertainers and sports figures across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean yesterday, following his death in New York at 91.

Several recalled his role in documenting Caribbean life and taking calypso to audiences around the world.
