A night out with friends ended in tragedy yesterday morning when the car carrying four people slammed into a lamppost along the Uriah Butler Highway in Caroni with such force that the vehicle split in two, killing one of the occupants.
Police said officers received a report around 6 a.m. of a serious accident along the northbound lane of the highway near the Caroni Flyover.
When they arrived at the scene, they found a black Hyundai Elantra, registration number PCZ 4157, on the shoulder of the roadway, torn in half from the impact.
