Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles has formally called on Acting President Wade Mark to stop any attempt to appoint a substantive Chief Justice, citing constitutional requirements for consultation and proper procedure.
In a detailed dated today, Beckles proposed that Justice of Appeal Prakash Moosai be appointed as acting Chief Justice instead, while urging that adequate information and time be provided to allow her office to fulfil its constitutional role.
President's House has announced that the new CJ will be sworn it at a ceremony cared for 2p.m.
