The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) has appointed an investigative committee to conduct enquiries into an incident that occurred on June 11th 2026, at Rampanalgas Village, which resulted in injuries to two members of the public.
Preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 4:30 a.m., the occupants of a house at Lot 1 Rampanalgas Street, reported hearing a loud noise, followed by the appearance of orange sparks. An alarm was raised and all residents evacuated the house. During the evacuation, one occupant, 20year-old Jesus Maharaj, came into contact with a conductor that was lying on the ground and sustained an electric shock. His father, Adrian Lewis, 37, also suffered electric shock while attempting to assist him. Both individuals were initially treated at the Toco Health Facility and subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt. Hope, for further medical care.
