In two separate incidents this week, T&TEC’s Emergency Crews responded quickly to restore electricity to customers after outages triggered by vandalism.
On Monday, intentional damage to a high-voltage cable at the Harmony Hall 66kV Substation in San Fernando at approximately 9:00 p.m. interrupted supply to customers in Marabella and San Fernando. Due to the quick response of Emergency Crews from the Southern Distribution Area, service was restored in just under two hours, by 10:45 p.m.
Customers in Beetham Gardens and Sea Lots experienced a similar outage on Thursday at 5:06 p.m. after an apparent attempt to steal cable at the Abattoir Substation in Port of Spain. Crews from the Northern Area responded immediately, restoring supply to Sea Lots within one hour, and to Beetham Gardens within two hours.
