Man accused of rampant debit card scheme

MONTEGO BAY, St James — There have been three additional allegations against Stephan Jones who was already before the St James Parish Court to answer a charge of simple larceny connected to debit card schemes.

In court last Wednesday a pattern emerged of adults allegedly being fleeced after being offered cash in exchange for access to their debit cards. There was also one instance of Jones allegedly scaring a teenager into handing over his father’s bank card.

The court was told of an incident on November 26, 2025 when a complainant was at a bank in Fairview, Montego Bay, when his friend, who was speaking with Jones, called him over. The allegations are that the complainant’s friend asked if he could assist Jones in receiving money being sent by his girlfriend. Jones reportedly said his girlfriend would send $500,000 and that the complainant and his friend would each receive $100,000.
