(Kaieteur News) – Police Corporal Shareef Mohammed, 29, who is accused of being behind the wheel during the fatal hit-and-run crash at Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, was on Wednesday granted a total of $1.54 million in bail.
Mohammed, who is stationed at the Annandale Police Outpost, appeared before the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court, where he was formally charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the deaths of Collis Bristol, a horse cart operator of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara, and Akeem Burgess, a construction worker of Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara.
The charges stem from the fatal accident, which occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, along the Bee Hive Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.
