A SPECIAL Reserve Police (SRP) officer who allegedly kidnapped, falsely imprisoned and then threatened his common-law wife, whom he restrained using handcuffs, was arrested in Tobago on Wednesday.
Police said the officer was expected before the Tobago Assizes yesterday, charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and common assault.
Police alleged that on March 18 the victim, who at the time was in a common-law relationship with the suspect, was walking along Village Street, Mt St George, when she was approached by him in a car. He allegedly forced the woman into the vehicle, and kept her from getting out of the car by using a pair of handcuffs.
