Police arrested a suspended police constable in connection with allegations of kidnapping and sexual offences against a 20-year-old victim.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the 39-year-old man allegedly forcibly removed the victim from a vehicle while identifying himself as a police officer and displaying a TTPS ID badge on June 3. The victim told police she was taken to an unknown location and sexually assaulted.
The TTPS said a report was later made to the Chaguanas Police Station, prompting an investigation into the matter. The man was arrested under a seven-day detention order last week.
