A 33-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and physically beaten by her former partner during a violent encounter in Mayaro last week, prompting a police investigation that has since led to the suspect’s arrest.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on June 6 at a residence on Seaview Lane, Plaisance Road, where the woman had been speaking with her ex-boyfriend. The conversation reportedly escalated into a confrontation, during which the man allegedly forced her into non-consensual sexual intercourse and committed acts of buggery. He then reportedly beat her with a length of cable wire, inflicting visible injuries.
After the suspect left the premises, the victim made her way to the Mayaro Police Station, where she filed a report. Officers from the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID), led by Sgt Mohammed and including WPC Francis and PC Meighoo, immediately launched an investigation.
