(Kaieteur News) – A police constable has confessed to the murder of 26-year-old Cuban national Dailen Paneque Gómez, whose decomposed body was discovered in a clump of bushes on the East Coast of Demerara on Wednesday evening — six days after she was reported missing while on her way to work.
Paneque GĂłmez, a resident of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was last seen during the early morning hours of Thursday, June 18, 2026, as she left for work in the Lusignan area. When she failed to arrive, she was reported missing, triggering an investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters.
Her body was recovered at approximately 19:50 hours, in a decomposed state. The Guyana Police Force (GPF) immediately classified the matter as a murder investigation.
