Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar affirmed Saturday that Trinidad and Tobago looks forward to renewed cooperation and the strengthening of its longstanding friendship with the people of Venezuela, following the early morning U.S. military capture of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.
She said the country is not participating in any U.S. military operations and continues to maintain peaceful relations with Venezuela.
She stated "May God guide and protect them as they transition away from years of oppression and dictatorship onto a new pathway towards democracy, justice, and prosperity."
