PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has welcomed the US military attack on Venezuela, which resulted in the capture and extraction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, from a fortified compound in the heart of Caracas around 2 am on January 3. She described it as a moment of liberation for the Venezuelan people.
In a post on X, Persad-Bissessar said, "May God guide and protect them (people of Venezuela) as they transition away from years of oppression and dictatorship onto a new pathway towards democracy, justice, and prosperity."
She added, "Trinidad and Tobago looks forward to renewed cooperation and the strengthening of our longstanding friendship with the people of Venezuela in the coming years."
