The family of Kaia Sealy, who was shot three times by police during a fatal encounter in St Augustine last month, has launched a public fundraising drive to help cover her mounting medical and rehabilitation expenses.
Sealy, a young mother, is now paralysed from the waist down following the January 20 shooting, which also claimed the life of her partner, 31-year-old Joshua Samaroo.
According to the family, a fundraiser has been established on the GiveSendGo platform with a target of $500,000 to assist with specialised medical treatment, rehabilitation, mobility support, transportation to medical appointments and basic living expenses for Sealy and her five-year-old daughter. By 10 a.m. on Wednesday, just over $5,700 had been raised.
