What initially sparked fears of a daring morning heist in San Juan has turned out to be a false alarm. Police have arrested two men after a reported robbery and kidnapping was found to be fabricated.
On Monday, around 8 a.m., a 42-year-old driver and a 20-year-old loader, both employed by Carib Brewery in Champ Fleurs, claimed they were intercepted on Ramatally Trace by armed men in a gold Nissan Almera. According to their account, the assailants forced them to unload their truck, which was filled with assorted alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, onto other vehicles before abandoning them at separate locations.
Police launched an investigation, canvassing the area, reviewing CCTV footage, and interviewing witnesses. It was later revealed that the reported incident never occurred. The men were subsequently arrested for making a false report.
