Three armed men stormed a popular roti shop on Tuesday afternoon and escaped with $80,000 in cash after terrorising the proprietors in a daylight robbery.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. at Z. Mohammed Roti Shop, located at St Helena Village, Piarco. The 27-year-old victim and his 54-year-old mother were conducting sales when the suspects entered, one armed with a firearm.
The woman was locked in a washroom, while her son was forced upstairs to the family’s apartment. There, the gunmen struck him in the head and demanded cash. He handed over two bags containing $60,000 and $20,000.
