A Chinese national was on Friday slapped with several traffic-related charges following an accident that claimed the life of 21-year-old Christopher Thomas along the Coverden Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Wednesday evening.
Zeng Huqaing, 39, attached to the CRBC Construction Camp and of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, was on Friday charged with driving without a valid driver ‘s licence; driving an unlicensed motor vehicle; driving an uncertified motor vehicle; and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.
He appeared before Magistrate Timeka Clarke at the Friendship Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him. He pleaded not guilty to all four offences. As such, he was remanded to the Lusignan Prison until August 14, 2026. He is yet to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
