A couple from California, Central Trinidad, was tied up and robbed at gunpoint during a home invasion on Monday morning. Their vehicle was later found abandoned.
Police said around 7:30 a.m. on June 30, a 56-year-old self-employed spiritual leader was in the backyard of his Southern Main Road residence when he was confronted by four men , one armed with a gun, another with a knife. The intruders forced him inside the house, where his 54-year-old wife was asleep.
The victims were tied up in a bedroom as the assailants ransacked the home, stealing two pellet handguns, one pellet rifle, alcohol, an undisclosed quantity of jewellery, and $44,000 in cash from the man. The woman was also robbed of jewellery and $12,380 in cash.
