Port of Spain police are investigating the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Hakim O’Brien on Sunday evening.
O’Brien, a labourer of Rudolph Charles Link Road, Laventille, and also of Lovell Place, East Dry River, was found lying on the roadway at the corner of Prince and Duncan Streets with apparent gunshot wounds around 6:15 p.m. Officers from the Duncan Street Police Post secured the area, and emergency personnel were notified.
Police said O’Brien had been driving along Prince Street with two passengers when another vehicle blocked him as he turned onto Piccadilly Street. After reversing and colliding with a bridge, O’Brien exited the vehicle and was chased by four men who opened fire, fatally wounding him.
