A 68-year-old man was assaulted and robbed after boarding a vehicle he believed to be a taxi in Arima early Saturday morning.
Police said the victim got into the car near the Churches Chicken Restaurant on Queen Street around 12:30 a.m., which was driven by an unknown man with a male and female passenger inside. The vehicle drove to a secluded area on Sun Block Avenue, O’Meara Industrial Estate, Malabar, where the driver and male passenger announced a robbery.
The suspects beat the victim and stole $4,000 in cash, along with his wallet containing an FCB debit card and other documents. The victim was left unconscious and regained consciousness around midday, later reporting the matter to police around 7 p.m.
