A 76-year-old pensioner was robbed of cash, a cellphone, and bank cards after being lured into a vehicle by two women at a Couva bank on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the woman had withdrawn $4,000 from Republic Bank around 2 p.m. when she was approached by two women who befriended her and offered to drive her home. She entered the back seat of a pearl-white vehicle driven by one of the women.
However, on reaching the Southern Main Road near the Couva Savannah, the driver suddenly stopped. Two men exited a black vehicle, with one opening the passenger door of the white car and assaulting the woman, causing her to fear for her safety.
