Sev­er­al il­le­gal firearms were re­cov­ered and five men ar­rest­ed dur­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es across Point Fortin, Guapo, and Siparia be­tween Fri­day and Sat­ur­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a me­dia re­lease from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS), the op­er­a­tions tar­get­ed pri­or­i­ty of­fend­ers and in­clud­ed mo­bile pa­trols, search ex­er­cis­es, and the ex­e­cu­tion of mul­ti­ple war­rants.

Around 2:00 a.m. on Sat­ur­day, of­fi­cers on pa­trol in Fan­ny Vil­lage stopped a dark green Nis­san X-Trail along Sun­set Beach Road. In­side the ve­hi­cle, they found a black Smith & Wes­son M&P .40 cal­i­bre pis­tol, a mag­a­zine, and three rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. The 34-year-old dri­ver, a con­trac­tor from ‘E’ Street Ex­ten­sion, Fan­ny Vil­lage, ad­mit­ted he had no Firearm User’s Li­cence and was ar­rest­ed.
