Po­lice seized two home­made shot­guns, re­cov­ered stolen cash, and ar­rest­ed sev­er­al sus­pects in a se­ries of an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions across Trinidad be­tween Fri­day and Sun­day.

In a state­ment is­sued yes­ter­day the TTPS said, in the South­ern Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers seized a home­made shot­gun fol­low­ing a con­fronta­tion be­tween two neigh­bours in New Grant. Po­lice said the vic­tim, an un­em­ployed man from Na­pari­ma–Ma­yaro Road, was pick­ing man­goes be­hind his home when he was ap­proached by a man known to him. The man al­leged­ly is­sued threats, left the area, and re­turned short­ly af­ter armed with a firearm.

A strug­gle re­port­ed­ly en­sued, dur­ing which the vic­tim dis­armed the sus­pect, who then fled the scene. Of­fi­cers re­spond­ed prompt­ly and took pos­ses­sion of the weapon. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
