A Diego Martin resident was scammed out of $4,300 after purchasing a fake gold chain advertised on Facebook Marketplace.
According to police, the man arranged to buy the chain from someone identifying himself as “Malcom R.” On Tuesday, the seller told the buyer he was unavailable and would send his girlfriend to complete the transaction.
The woman met with the buyer, conducted a test on the chain, and he then paid $4,300 for what he believed was genuine gold.
