THE North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) announced a major medical milestone—the successful discharge of the smallest triplets ever delivered and treated in the country. The babies, born prematurely at just 27 weeks, spent several weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Port of Spain General Hospital before being discharged.
In a release yesterday, the NWRHA lauded the strength of the infants and their family. It also praised their success story as a testament to the “optimum care provided at the medical institution”. The babies will continue to receive paediatric care at their home, the Authority reported.
“Their survival and growth represent the highest standards of neonatal medicine, advanced respiratory and nutritional support, and the unwavering dedication of our nursing and medical staff,” it said.
