Former prime minister Dr Keith Rowley has urged Trinidad and Tobago to take note of the Democratic Party’s sweeping victories in the United States midterm elections, arguing that the results should prompt reflection on the foreign policy direction taken by the UNC Government.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Rowley said the American electorate had decisively addressed what he described as the “rampage” in the United States, and suggested that the outcome carried lessons for Trinidad and Tobago.
Democrats won control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, in a major setback for President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. The Associated Press reported that Democrats had secured control of both chambers, with several races still to be called.
