A mid-morn­ing fire at the Aranguez North Sec­ondary School trig­gered a swift re­sponse from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vice to­day, af­ter smoke was seen com­ing from the in­sti­tu­tion’s IT Lab­o­ra­to­ry.

TTFS of­fi­cials said the re­port came in at 10:53 a.m., when staff con­tact­ed fire­fight­ers about a blaze at the school’s Bound­ary Road, San Juan com­pound. A crew from the San Juan Fire Sta­tion ar­rived at 11:14 a.m.

Fire of­fi­cers found the blaze con­fined to an 8 × 8 me­tre room with­in the ground-floor IT Lab­o­ra­to­ry. Crews im­me­di­ate­ly be­gan fire­fight­ing op­er­a­tions and con­tained the flames be­fore they spread to oth­er parts of the build­ing.
