A fire broke out at Aranguez North Secondary School in Aranguez on Tuesday morning, causing damage to an unoccupied storeroom but leaving no one injured.
Police reported that around 10:55 a.m., officers on mobile patrol in the Barataria district received a report of a structural fire at the school on Boundary Road. Upon arrival, smoke was seen coming from room 110, a storeroom in Building B1 adjacent to the school library.
The school principal, Gerard Thomas, and an MTS security guard attempted to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful. The room contained old books, past papers, and cardboard boxes, which contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
