2 Brazilians die in head-on collision along Mabura Highway

Two Brazilian nationals were on Saturday evening killed after the vehicle in which they were travelling crashed into a mini-bus along the Mabura highway, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice). The deceased have been identified as 54-year-old Ronaldo Scalon and 50-year-old Rogerio Tolotti. Based on reports received, Scalon was at the time driving a Brazilian-registered 4×4 pickup and ended up in the wrong, thus coming into the path of the minibus. It was reportedly too late to take evasive actions, thus causing a head-on collision. The driver of the mini-bus, identified as Delon Greaves, sustained multiple injuries to his body.

However, the two Brazilians were later pronounced dead at the Linden Hospital, while Greaves was treated and referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for further treatment. An investigation is underway.
