Defense accuses Police of misrepresenting court testimony, Magistrate says court unfazed by media

Kaieteur News – Defense attorney Siand Dhurjon today accused the Guyana Police Force (GPF) of issuing a misleading public press statement designed to shore up the credibility of its star witness while cross-examination remains underway.

Chief Magistrate Judy Latchman, however, made it clear that the court operates completely isolated from public commentary, instructing the defense to seek external legal remedies if they believe the publication crossed a legal boundary.

The defense’s application centers on a September 11 release issued to the Joint Services media group by the GPF Corporate Communications Unit, titled “GPF Clarifies Media Reports on Records in Mohameds’ Extradition Proceedings.”
