“JAIL is jail,” said Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro yesterday, following a late-night legal challenge against the relocation of murder accused Rajaee Ali from the Maximum Security Prison (MSP), Arouca, to another location.
It was preceded by several police operations which saw officers shooting and killing a car theft suspect in Enterprise and arresting 56 people for different offences within the first 24 hours of the state of emergency (SoE) in the country.
Guevarro’s statement, issued via a media release, came in response to High Court Justice Frank Seepersad’s dismissal of a habeas corpus application filed by Ali’s wife, Stacy Griffith, barely 24 hours into the nation’s newly declared SoE.
