Opposition MP Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said yesterday the Government has created a social crisis by putting former CEPEP workers on the breadline, who were among the most vulnerable in the country.
Speaking at a media conference at the Opposition Leader’s Office, Port of Spain, Gadsby-Dolly knocked the Government for taking away the terminated workers’ incomes with the new school year looming in September.
She questioned what was put in place to ease the blow when more than 14,000 employed with the Community-based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP) and Forestry workers lost their jobs last month, with the termination of contracts under the programme.
