A dramatic police chase in Arima on Friday morning ended with the seizure of over 108 kilogrammes of Colombian “creepy” cannabis, valued at nearly $12 million, after the driver abandoned his vehicle and ran into Trincity Mall.
The North Central Division’s N.D.T.F. South, acting on intelligence from a Specialist Unit, spotted a cream-colored Nissan Almera transporting suspected firearms and narcotics along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. When police attempted to stop the vehicle near Trincity traffic lights, the driver ran a red light and continued toward the mall.
The suspect jumped out in the Trincity Mall carpark and escaped, leaving behind five bales containing 179 packets of cannabis. The vehicle was seized and processed by Crime Scene Experts at San Rafael Police Station.
