Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed Saturday in a sweeping Israeli strike carried out as part of a joint U.S.–Israel military operation, according to Israeli and American officials.
An Israeli official said Khamenei’s body was recovered from the ruins of his leadership compound in Tehran following precision strikes that targeted what Israel described as the core of Iran’s political and military command structure.
U.S. President Donald Trump told NBC News that “we feel certain” Khamenei is dead, adding that “most” of Iran’s senior leadership had also been eliminated.
