Authorities recovered a decomposed body in the Paria River near the Paria Waterfall, Blanchisseuse, on Monday, following reports from hikers of a lifeless figure in the water.
The discovery was made during a rescue and recovery operation conducted between 8:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m involving members of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service Search and Rescue Team, the Coast Guard, the Special Investigations Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, Blanchisseuse Police, and local fisherfolk.
Officers navigated rough seas to reach the site, and trekked through the forest and eventually located the male body, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a Rasta hairstyle, brown complexion. The body was naked, face down in the water, lodged among rocks and debris.
