A Sangre Grande man who went to set crab traps at a beach off Comparo Road, Fishing Pond, found human remains along the coastline on Wednesday.
The 49-year-old man contacted the police and led the officers through a two-mile track into a forested area to the beach where a skull, torso and bones were found scattered on the sand.
The bones were bagged and taken to the Forensic Science Centre in St James, where forensic testing would be conducted to determine whether the remains washed ashore from a drifting vessel, spotted near the bp Cassia Platform off Trinidad’s south eastern coast last month. Five bodies were seen on board the vessel.
