The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA) has raised concerns over delays in the payment of newly agreed salaries to educators, particularly in Tobago, where teachers are now expected to miss the March pay cycle.
In a media release, TTUTA said while teachers in Trinidad are set to receive their long-awaited salary increases at the end of this month, there is no indication that backpay, previously referenced by the Minister of Finance, will be included.
The union expressed greater concern over what it described as an “unacceptable” disparity, noting that educators in Tobago will not receive their new salaries at the same time as their counterparts in Trinidad.
