Teachers in Tobago will not receive their newly agreed salaries at the end of March alongside their counterparts in Trinidad.
In a statement yesterday, the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA) confirmed that teachers in Trinidad are expected to receive their long-awaited new salaries at the end of this month. However, it noted that there is no evidence that teachers will receive their backpay.
“While this development is welcomed, TTUTA notes with concern that there is currently no evidence of any backpay being disbursed, contrary to statements previously made by the Minister of Finance (Davendranath Tancoo),” TTUTA said.
