The Government is not using road traffic fines as a revenue-raising measure but is instead seeking to restore order and save lives on the nation’s roads, Transport Minister Eli Zakour said on Wednesday.
Zakour insisted that law-abiding motorists have no reason to be concerned, stressing that the enforcement drive is aimed at addressing widespread breaches of road traffic laws.
Speaking at a press conference at the United National Congress (UNC) headquarters in Chaguanas, the minister defended the Government’s actions amid growing public outcry over increased fines and penalties.
