Transport Minister Eli Zakour received blows from the Opposition for his comment regarding the lack of access to data prior to the campaign trail on Wednesday night.
During a news conference at the United National Congress (UNC) headquarters in Chaguanas on Wednesday, Zakour defended the increased fines following a public outcry.
According to the minister, before taking office and gaining access to the relevant data, the Government was not clear as to the extent of the lawlessness on the roads.
