PUBLIC Utilities Minister Barry Padarath and Opposition MP Marvin Gonzales engaged in a war of words on Monday over who is under investigation and on the radar of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The drama unfolded du­ring the Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee (SFC) examination of the supplementary allocation of $89.4 million to the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.

Gonzales pressed Justice Minister Devesh Maharaj on whether the allocation of some $54.9 million for attor­neys would be used for the State’s continuation of matters including the Piarco Airport case and another invol­ving King’s Counsel Vincent Nelson, as he noted Maharaj had indicated the AG is committed to fighting white-collar crime.
