A war of words continues to erupt between Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath and Opposition MP Marvin Gonzales with both accusing each other of lies and corruption.
Speaking at a news conference at the Opposition Leader’s Port of Spain office yesterday, Gonzales said no action was taken against Padarath, even though he (Gonzales) presented documentary proof showing that the minister did not provide accurate information when he claimed in the Parliament that WASA rented a building for $3 million and described it as a “slush fund”.
When asked about this by the Express yesterday, Padarath fired back with more allegations against Gonzales, calling on him to provide answers for $25 million in contracts awarded to a company under his watch, among other questionable financial practices.
